PROJECT OVERVIEW
Launched on Friday April 7, 2017 Jamaica Moves, created and executed by Market Me, was the country’s coordinated national response to the increased incidences of non communicable diseases. The campaign was designed to educate, engage and build supportive environments, with the goal of reducing NCDs by 25% by the year 2025.
The programme gained national, regional and international attention, having been awarded the Gleaner Honours Award for Health and Wellness in 2018 as well as being endorsed publicly by the Director General of the WHO Tedros Adhanom as well as CARICOM leaders. With sponsorship raised of over $100 million from the private sector, expansion of the programme from a general public education campaign to a hyper focused change agenda that targeted workplaces, schools and communities – the campaign became a benchmark for change in the health and wellness space. It’s impact was so significant that Market Me conceptualised ‘Caribbean Moves’ which allowed the programme to be expanded to other regions, seeing other island nations of St Kitts & Nevis, the Bahamas, Barbados and St Lucia implementing the programme as part of their approach in the reduction of NCDs.
